Charity Work
This year, Warwick Squash will be raising money for Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM). CALM is leading a movement against suicide. Every week 125 people in the UK take their own lives. And 75% of all UK suicides are male. CALM exists to change this.
This year, there will be an estimated 150 000 deaths from suicide and domestic abuse due to the Coronavirus lockdown. Therefore, Warwick Squash are currently in the process of running 1,500km throughout July to support CALM (to put this in perspective, it is the distance from Warwick to Rome).
If you'd like to contribute, either by running or donating, please click the following link to the team justgiving page.
There will be prizes for the most money raised, furthest total distance ran and fastest 5k time!
32 Hour Squashathon
Last year, we held our first 32h Charity Squashathon in support of Right to Play, a, international non-profit organization that empowers vulnerable children to overcome the effects of war, poverty, and disease around the world through play.
This fantastic event culminated in a tense doubles battle between our two coaches, Guy and Steve, and our top two ranked student players Kaylen and Lochlan.
Charity Circles
Each term, Warwick Squash runs one of our wednesday POP! circles as a charity circle.
This includes all the mayhem of a normal circle, plus various charity forfeits!
Community Squash Courses
In previous years, we have collaborated with local primary and secondary schools in Coventry to teach students how to play squash. This year, we're hoping to revitalise this campaign - do get in touch with our Charity Officer if you're interested! All the court bookings and equipment will be included - all that we ask is for you to wear non-marking soles to the courts. And better yet, if you have squash goggles, do bring it along!
