WOMEN'S
SQUASH

At Warwick Squash, we're committed to diversity, and one way we're trying to do that is by bringing more women into the sport.

Squash is a fun sport for all and we have a strong and welcoming female community to help you get started on your squash journey!

Women's Hour: Rock Up

Every Tuesday from 18:00-19:00, WarwickSquash runs a women’s only ‘Rock Up’ session in collaboration with Warwick Sport. This session is free and open to all female-identifying members of the Warwick community, with no membership or fee of any kind required. We supply the rackets and balls so just pop along! It is a lovely way to step into the world of squash in a relaxed, low commitment way (although we hope you’ll love it so much you do decide to join us!)

The sessions are varied and there is something for everyone. At each session there is an England Squash qualified female student coach for anyone who is new to the sport and is looking for a gentle introduction, or for those looking to pick up a few tips and improve their game. We also have a number of women who come every week to play friendly matches and challenge each other on the ladder (what’s this?). Of course, if you have any specific requirements or something you’d like to get out of the session, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us and we’ll make it work for you!

Non-team Tournaments:
Women’s Grade

Our wonderful competitions secretaries organise two non-team tournaments a term, which are a great chance for non-team players to engage in a bit of (friendly!) competition. These always include a women’s grade so you can put your squash skills to work. The tournaments are always extremely relaxed - I played in one just six weeks after the first time I picked up a racket and it’s a wonderful environment, particularly if it’s your first time playing competitively, as it was mine.

The women’s grade has a plate and cup trophy, with a runner-up medal for each, so there’s plenty of opportunity for women of all abilities to take home some silverware!

Women's Team Play.

BUCS Play

We have 2 women’s teams at WarwickSquash, with the first team having just been promoted to the National Premier Division! Both the first and the second team are provided with training lead by our club coach Steve which enables players to work on a variety of exercises to improve match play. All our team players are extremely welcoming and love being on the courts, so whether you’re a team player or not, they’ll always be down to have a quick match or motivate you through a tough game.

- Emily Akehurst, Social Secretary 2022/23 and BUCS player

Women's Training

Every Thursday there is a training session held for Women's 2s players and for any women interested in playing BUCS to train and improve their game. Get in contact to find out more.

Women's Socials.

What are Women's socials?

A couple of times a term we slot a women’s social into the vibrant social calendar our social secs prepare for us. This is a lovely opportunity for team and non team squash girls to get together and have a chat and a laugh.

If you’re new to the club or thinking of joining, why not come along to one of our women’s socials and get to know us in a relaxed environment - then you’ll always have a friendly face when you come to women’s hour, club night or circle!
